Jay Walker, MA Counselling Psychology, RP
Jay is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. Jay earned a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology through Athabasca University, where much of his research focused on issues related to gender identity, body image, exercise and eating disorders.
Jay provides trauma-informed therapy within an intersectional and anti-oppressive lens. His approach to counselling is relational and client-centered, and both acknowledge & deconstructs the various systemic oppressive factors that influence the mental health of communities and individuals. He draws techniques from emotion-focused, cognitive behavioural, mindfulness, and existential approaches, based upon the client’s needs, strengths, and preferences.
Jay has experience in supporting folks who are navigating anxiety, depression, PTSD/trauma symptoms, grief & loss, body image, disordered eating & exercise, as well as issues related to LGBTQ2I+ identities and relationships.
