 Darcy Turner is a registered social worker who earned her Masters Degree in Social Work with an emphasis in Social Justice and Diversity from the University of Toronto. 

 

She provides holistic trauma informed therapy that is rooted in anti-oppressive principles. Her therapeutic approach is warm, direct, and creative, that strives to create a safe and welcoming environment that celebrates the richness of her clients’ diverse life experiences including work with non-mongamous/poly and BDSM/kink communities.  She offers both short-term and long-term support primarily to youth and adults. 

 

A central focus in her practice has been working with people affected by interpersonal trauma (sexual abuse/assault and intimate partner violence) and its subsequent impacts. Her therapeutic approach is informed by Narrative Therapy in addition to extensive training in trauma specific modalities such as Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). 

 

In addition to Umbrella, Darcy works in a trauma therapy program at a downtown hospital and provides clinical consultation to an LGBTQ+ youth community agency.
