Darcy Turner is a registered social worker who earned her Masters Degree in Social Work with an emphasis in Social Justice and Diversity from the University of Toronto. 

 

She provides holistic trauma-informed therapy that is rooted in anti-oppressive principles. Her therapeutic approach is warm, direct, and creative, that strives to create a safe and welcoming environment that celebrates the richness of her clients’ diverse life experiences including work with non-monogamous/poly and BDSM/kink communities.  She offers both short-term and long-term support primarily to youth and adults. 

 

A central focus in her practice has been working with people affected by interpersonal trauma (sexual abuse/assault and intimate partner violence) and its subsequent impacts. Her therapeutic approach is informed by Narrative Therapy in addition to extensive training in trauma-specific modalities such as Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). 

 

In addition to Umbrella, Darcy works in a trauma therapy program at a downtown hospital and provides clinical consultation to an LGBTQ+ youth community agency.
