Christopher Shillington is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). He earned his Master’s degree in clinical and counselling psychology as well as sexual diversity studies from the University of Toronto; in addition to an honours BA in psychology with a minor in sexuality, marriage and family studies from the University of Waterloo.

 

Christopher is a sex, queer and trans positive individual and couples’ therapist. He approaches psychotherapy from a place of celebrating diversity, relationship, and emotional bravery. With over 15 years of experience in the field of sexual and mental health, Christopher offers an expertise and passion that is evident in his therapeutic and educational work related to sex, gender, sexuality and relationships including those that are poly or non-monogamous. He has worked with youth in an educational capacity for the majority of his career and loves working with young people who are exploring the various aspects of their identity. His research examines the social determinants of health for LGBTQ* individuals as well as the function of monogamy/non-monogamy and its role in modern-day relationships.

His counselling draws upon principles of cultural humility, anti-oppression, intersectionality as well as harm reduction, and incorporates techniques that are strength-based and solution focused to help individuals and couples achieve their personal therapeutic goals.
